Voluntarism

August 9, 1962--Six hundred and three Peace Corps trainees preparing in Washington area for overseas assignments visited President Kennedy on the south lawn of the White House. The President welcomed the trainees with special pleasure because they had "committed themselves to a great adventure." He repeated his hope that Peace Corps Volunteers would return to careers of service in the Government. After informal conversation with the trainees, the President on the spur of the moment ordered a special tour of the White House for the trainees. Here Kennedy talks with Harris Wofford, Special Peace Corps Representative for Africa.

Voluntarism is something we have to do more of in order to make human advancement (progress) and preserve the social peace which will always be ahead of the politics. These actions are considered charitable, but that can be very narrow when it involves not just our physical being but our souls and their relationships we promote or establish in life.  We should embrace voluntarism with how we think, feel, and act towards one another as human, not just for oneself’s needs or self-promotion, but to shape the way we live and promote our human life.   At The United Societies it is our honor to volunteer to assist another human being especially in need. Our human progress and literal existence depends on how we learn to coexist with each other and the planet we occupy. The societies will alway be committed to voluntarism and it will be the cornerstone of our humanitarianism and mediations between opposing truths amongst people and their many different cultures.

At the societies it’s cultures will establish the greatness of our humanity by focusing on the best of human progress and social (including our environmental concerns) peace we summed up in two cultural centers with institutional interests.  Not perfect but a way of addressing  our survival together on this planet, that means having a dynamic membership which looks forward to helping people and preserving the social peace or restoring our environment to a healthier place to live, progress and peace.  Do visit us online!
